Estate planning is one of the most thoughtful steps you can take to protect your family and ensure your wishes are honored. At Fountain Hills Law Firm, we make the process as clear, comfortable, and efficient as possible. Whether you’re creating a will, trust, or complete estate plan, our goal is to guide you every step of the way with transparency and care.
Here’s a look at what you can expect when you work with our team — from your first call to receiving your complete estate plan.
Step 1: Initial Call & Free Consultation
When you call our office, our staff will schedule a free no-obligation consultation with our estate planning attorney, Tait D. Elkie, at a convenient time for you. We’ll answer any preliminary questions and explain what to bring to the meeting.
Step 2: Consultation with Attorney
During your consultation, Mr. Elkie will sit down with you (in-person or virtually) to discuss:
- Your family structure and relationships
- Financial assets and real estate
- Your goals and concerns
- Any existing estate planning documents you have
Once we understand your unique situation, Mr. Elkie will recommend a customized estate plan, quote a fee, and, if you’re ready to proceed, we’ll ask you to sign a Fee Agreement to get started.
Step 3: Follow-Up for Additional Information
After the initial meeting, we will reach out to you to gather any information you didn’t have on hand — such as legal names, account details, or contact information. You will also have a chance to clarify anything or ask further questions.
Step 4: Drafting Your Estate Plan
Our legal team will begin preparing your estate planning documents, which may include:
- Last Will and Testament
- Revocable Living Trust
- Powers of Attorney (financial & medical)
- Living Will / Advance Directive
Step 5: Review & Signing Appointment Scheduling
Once your documents are ready, we’ll call you to schedule a Review and Signing Appointment. Before your appointment, we will email you a secure draft copy of your documents so you can review them ahead of time and jot down any questions.
Step 6: Review, Signing & Finalization
During your Review and Signing Appointment:
- Mr. Elkie will go over each document with you in detail to confirm they reflect your intentions.
- You’ll sign all documents in the presence of a notary and witnesses.
- We scan and compile your documents into a professional estate planning binder.
- You will receive your originals and an electronic copy.
- Mr. Elkie will provide detailed instructions and go over any final action items for you, which could be updating beneficiary forms, retitling accounts, and so forth.
- Final payment is made at this appointment.
You will leave our office with peace of mind, knowing your estate plan is complete and your legacy is protected.
