American Legion Fountain Hills Post #58 Color Guard Wins American Legion National Championship at 100th National Convention

As representatives for the American Legion for the State of Arizona, the Fountain Hills Post #58 Color Guard won the American Legion National Championship in the Military Class on August 24, 2018 in Minneapolis, Minnesota at the American Legion’s 100th National Convention.  Members of the Color Guard included Attorney Tait D. Elkie (Trail Rifleman), Phil Yin (Lead Rifleman), Kevin Wood (Captain/Flag Bearer), and Bob Putnam (Flag Bearer).  The Color Guard competed against other Color and Honor Guards from across the nation.  This was the first time a Color Guard from Arizona won the National Championship in any category.  The Color Guard also competed in the Advancing and Retiring of the Colors and placed fourth overall in that category.
